Prince Frederick, Md.-based Calvert Digestive Disease Associates Endoscopy and Surgery Center's opening was profiled in The Calvert Recorder.
What you should know:
1. Yvonne Bright, MD, and Dolores Rhodes, MD, opened the physician-owned surgery center in May 2018. Calvert County, Md., was the only Maryland county without a hospital alternative.
2. The center primarily performs colorectal cancer screenings, but Drs. Bright and Rhodes also perform esophagogastroduodenoscopies, colonoscopies and flexible sigmoidoscopies.
3. The center has seen solid growth since opening. Drs. Bright and Rhode hope to expand the center in the future by adding another surgeon.
4. Center Nurse Administrator Julie Ceci said, "We want to show [the patients] that we do appreciate them [by] providing the best care because we know the procedures can be unpleasant. We make an unpleasant situation pleasant for them."
