Pentax’s new duodenoscope with disposable elevator cap receives CE mark — 4 insights

Here’s what you should know:

1. The duodenoscope has a disposable elevator cap. The cap allows for increased reprocessing efficiency. Pentax described it as a “breakthrough solution in infection prevention.”

2. Pentax will reveal the duodenoscope to the public at the EUS-ENDO Congress in Marseille, France, Sept. 28 to Sept. 29.

3. The scope offers providers high definition imaging and is a “solution” for diagnostic and for therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures.

4. Pentax Medical’s Europe, Middle East, Africa President Rainer Burkard said in a release, “The new DEC Duodenoscope is a world-first, combining high quality imaging and therapeutic performance with pioneering patient safety features to help reducing the risk of cross-contamination and infection. … With patient safety and hygiene a key focus for Pentax Medical, we are proud to introduce such an innovative solution to enhance infection prevention for improved patient care.”
