Pentax, NinePoint Medical & more — 5 GI company key notes

Here are five updates on GI companies from the past week:

Pentax received the German Innovation Award for its DEC duodenoscope’s disposable design elements, as well as an honor from the ESGE Days Congress for its red Density Program, which supports physicians in the endoscopic assessment of ulcerative colitis.

Pentax also published a series of lectures from the "Reducing the risk of infection in ERCP" symposium, which covered the challenges of performing biliopancreatic procedures and reducing the risk of cross contamination in endoscope reprocessing.

NinePoint Medical named Eman Namati, PhD its new CEO. Dr. Namati replaces Christopher von Jako, PhD, who will now serve as an independent board member.

Takeda opened its new headquarters in Tokyo, which will serve as the main office for the company’s worldwide operations.

Takeda’s shareholders voted down a proposal that would’ve required putting major acquisitions to a vote, including the company’s $62 billion acquisition of Shire.
