Dr. Khan performed the stool transfer procedure at University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital in August to help the child battle a persistent Clostridium difficile infection.

The patient received the FMT transplant from his mother. Subsequent tests revealed no evidence of C. diff, and the child has remained symptom-free.

Dr. Kahn is assistant professor of pediatrics at University of Chicago Medicine.
