With patient awareness of colorectal cancer on the rise and the resulting push for younger patients to be screened for the disease, pay and demand for gastroenterologists is increasing.

St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, N.Y. and Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y. named Lynn O'Connor, MD, as the new chief of colon and rectal surgery. Both hospitals are part of the Catholic Health Services health system.
