Low reimbursement rates have plagued gastroenterology for years. Here's what gastroenterologists have to say about how it's affecting the field.

Atlantic, Iowa-based Cass Health has partnered with Omaha, Neb.-based Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates to bring two GI specialists to Cass, according to a Jan. 25 report from Western Iowa Today. 

Gastroenterologist burnout has declined 2% in the last year, according to Medscape's 2024 "Physician Burnout and Depression Report,"published Jan. 24.

David Pierce has joined the board of medtech startup Mirai Medical as a non-executive director.

Nebraska Sen. Carol Blood proposed a bill stating that patients with insurance would not be subject to additional costs for medical services associated with a colonoscopy, such as a polyp removal, 6 News reported Jan. 17.

New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, chief of gastroenterology Joan Culpepper-Morgan, MD, and CEO Georges Leconte have earned a Scopy award from the American College of Gastroenterology.
