Several health systems have taken moves to expand their gastroenterology departments in 2024, from adding new physicians to creating new facilities. 

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital Digestive Health Center has added gastroenterologists David Schwimmer, MD, and Sheldon Taub, MD, to its practice, according to a March 6 report from South Florida Hospital News.

Gastroenterology physicians and practices are facing a major challenge: increased demand for colonoscopies amid declining reimbursements.
