Olympus launched two single-use devices — procedure kits and hybrid tubing — to reduce cross-contamination, according to a Nov. 4 press release.

The procedure kits are made in partnership with Ruhof Corp., the release said. They're designed to help setup during procedures and improve efficiency. The components are single-use, and the number of contact points during transportation have been reduced.

"We are thrilled to partner with Olympus to offer reliable solutions that meet the regulations and standards of U.S. customers," Douglas Mackay, vice president of sales and marketing at Ruhof Corp., said in a statement. "The powerful combination of our highly advanced product line and Olympus' leadership in endoscopy is pivotal to addressing the ever-growing concern around cross contamination in hospitals."

Hybrid tubing allows for input of air or carbon dioxide and water via the scope and jet function, the release said. It's designed to help decrease procedural setup time and increase efficiency in endoscopy suites. The single-day tubing eliminates the need to reprocess tubing.
