Marietta (Ohio) Memorial Hospital is reportedly the first in the U.S. to fully convert to single-use duodenoscopes for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures, News and Sentinel reported Sept. 30.
Juan Tejada, MD, performed the procedure, becoming the first physician in the state to use Ambu USA's technology.
Ambu's single-use duodenoscope eliminates the reprocessing needed in reusable duodenoscopes. The technology is gaining popularity because of contamination issues common with reusable duodenoscopes.
