The action plan was created by the interagency Task Force for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria. The main five goals of the plan include:
• Slowing the emergence of resistant bacteria and preventing the spread of such infections
• Strengthening national One-Health surveillance efforts
• Advancing the development and use of resistant bacteria diagnostic tests
• Increasing basic and applied research on the development of new antibiotics, other therapeutics and vaccines
• Improving international collaboration for antibiotic resistance prevention, surveillance, control and research
