NYU Lutheran Medical Center names Dr. George Abdelsayed GI chief: 5 things to know

George Abdelsayed, MD, has been named the section chief for gastroenterology and hepatology at the New York City-based NYU Lutheran Medical Center.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Abdelsayed:

1. In this role, he plans to expand the medical center’s hepatitis C and endoscopic treatment programs.

2. He maintains a faculty appointment as an associate clinical professor at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven.

3. Prior to joining NYU Lutheran Medical Center, he served as director of gastroenterology and hepatology at Staten Island University Hospital in New York City.

4. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians.

5. He earned his medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla.
