New Jersey medical center simplifies colonoscopy process — 4 insights

Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center reduced the administrative work around getting a colonoscopy in its ASC, HudsonReporter.com reports.

What you should know:

1. The hospital is now offering “Easy Access Colonoscopy” in its ASC.

2. The process eliminates preprocedure visits for eligible patients and allows them to go straight to scheduling the procedure.

3. To do this, patients call a hotline and undergo a brief health screening to determine their eligibility.

4. The hospital hopes the initiative will make it easier for Hudson County, N.J., residents to get screened for colon cancer.
