Motus GI's Pure-Vu system effective in adequately prepping colons — 5 insights

Motus GI presented results of a study evaluating the performance of its Pure-Vu System at the 25th UEG Week, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 in Barcelona, Spain.

Here's what you should know:

1. For the study, researchers enrolled 47 cases across three sites in Europe.

2. Pure-Vu was used in subjects with partially prepared colons. The patients took two 10mg Bisacodyls, while also partaking in dietary restrictions. Researchers assessed safety, improvement of colon cleansing level and patient satisfaction.

3. Researchers measured colon preparation with the Boston Bowel Preparation Scoring system. Each region of the colon can receive up to three points for preparation. Pure-Vu significantly increased colon preparation, from 19.1 percent at baseline to 100 percent after using Pure-Vu.

4. The cecum was reached and visualized in 46 of 47 potential cases.

5. Baseline BBPS score was three. After the Pure-Vu system, the majority of scores were nine.

Motus CEO Mark Pomeranz said in a release, "We are very pleased with the results from this study as the data are consistent with our previous clinical findings demonstrating the Pure-Vu System to be safe and effective in cleaning inadequately prepared colons to an adequate level, along with continued effective outcomes and physician and patient satisfaction."
