Mayo Clinic kicks off $65M surgical suite expansion — building 14 ORs, GI endoscopy center

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic launched a $65 million expansion to its Mankato, Minn., campus, the Mankato Free Press reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The expansion will add 14 operating rooms, a sterile processing department, 43 preoperative and postoperative patients rooms, an interventional pain medicine procedural room and a gastrointestinal endoscopy center to the hospital.

2. System officials expect the surgical suites and GI endoscopy center will be complete in late 2018. The entire project is expected to be complete by 2019.

3. Mayo officials expect to continue improving and expanding the Mankato campus in the coming years.

4. Mayo Clinic Health System’s Regional Vice President James Hebl, MD, said to the Free Press, “This is one of several changes coming to truly transform the Mankato campus into a major Mayo Clinic regional medical center.”
