Johns Hopkins gastroenterologist Dr. Parviz Nikoomanesh dies at 77 from brain cancer

Parviz Nikoomanesh, MD, a longtime gastroenterologist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, died March 17, 2017 of brain cancer, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Dr. Nikoomanesh worked at the Bayview Medical Center for more than 45 years.

He earned his medical degree from Pour Sina St, Iran-based Tehran Medical School. He completed an internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Ma., and a fellowship at old Baltimore City Hospital, currently known as Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Dr. Nikoomanesh was the clinical director of gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins Bayview from 1997 to 2013.

Mary Sobus, his administrative assistant for 30 years, said to the Sun, "He was extremely hardworking, dedicated and kind. He was the kind of doctor who was ready to do everything he could. He was a lovable person, down to earth, who could make a patient feel comfortable."
