Here’s what you should know.
1. Beersheba, Israel-based Ben-Gurion University of the Negev scientists created the SAW, the single actuator robot. The robot can navigate through the small intestine propelled in a wave-like manner.
2. The current prototype is too large for human use, but scientists are working on an iteration that could work in livestock.
3. A scaled down version of the robot could allow providers to access the small intestine, differentiating it from traditional colonoscopies, which only examine the large intestine.
