Holzer Health System names gastroenterologist Dr. Christopher Meyer CEO

Gastroenterologist Christopher T. Meyer, DO, was named CEO and chairman of the Board of Governors for Holzer Health System, according to a My Daily Register report.

Dr. Meyer has been a gastroenterologist for the Holzer Health System for more than 13 years and will focus on leading the organization to meet defined goals as CEO. He also aims to improve the care experience and healthcare for patients.

Previously, Dr. Meyer served as medical director and chief medical officer for the health system. Board of Directors Chairman Brent Saunders praised Dr. Meyer for his leadership and “vision of growing the system,” in the report. As the health system’s CMO, Dr. Meyer was instrumental in aligning the health system with physician practices.

He also participated in developing a new healthcare facility and establishing the Holzer Graduate Medical Education and Residency programs.

Dr. Meyer earned his degree at the Des Moines University College of Medicine and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
