Gastroenterologist Michael Newman, MD, is the new president of Melrose, Mass.-based Hallmark Health Medical Associates and system vice president of the Hallmark Health System, Wicked Local reports.

1. Dr. Newman was most recently the interim president of HMMA.

2. His other qualifications include:

  • Practicing gastroenterology for nearly 25 years
  • Serving as the health system’s chief medical officer
  • Serving as the health system’s director of gastroenterology.

3. Dr. Newman began his career after earning his medical degree from New York University in New York City. He completed his residency at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan Medical Center and his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Philadelphia’s Thomas Jefferson University.
