Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force creates burpee challenge for colon cancer: 3 insights

The Omaha, Neb.-based Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force created the burpee challenge to raise colon cancer awareness, Live Well Nebraska reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The challenge takes place at Omaha-based CrossFit Hydro in honor of Justin VanBeek’s mother, who died of colon cancer. Mr. VanBeek owns the gym.

2. This is the fourth year the gym has held the fundraiser. Members raise money and perform several burpees, an exercise maneuver.

3. The gym raised $5,500 last year and had 125 participants. It set a $6,000 goal this year.
