GI physician perspective: 3 thoughts on MOC recertification

The American Gastroenterological Association has already proposed an alternative to the maintenance of certification proposal: The Gastroenterologist: Accountable Professionalism in Practice. Now, the AGA has surveyed its members on their views on the MOC process.

Here are three points on gastroenterologists’ perspectives on MOC.

•    93 percent think the current MOC model is burdensome and irrelevant to their practice.
•    88 percent think a high-stakes exam every 10 years is critical for recertification.
•    87 percent think the proposed G:APP model is an improvement over the current MOC model.
