GI physician leader to know: Dr. Vani Konda of University of Chicago Medicine

Vani Konda, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine and director of endoscopic research and endoscopic programs at the Center for Endoscopic Research and Therapeutics at University of Chicago Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Konda has a professional interest in Barrett’s esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disorders, esophageal strictures, swallowing disorders and eosinophilic esophagitis. She has expertise in endoscopic mucosal resection, radiofrequency ablation and advanced endoscopic imaging.

Dr. Konda’s research interests include investigating and developing new applications of endoscopic imaging and optical technologies for the detection of gastrointestinal cancers and precancerous lesions. Her work has been published in prestigious journals such as Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Dr. Konda completed her medical degree at Brown University in Providence, R.I. She completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Chicago.
