GI physician leader to know: Dr. Robynne Chutkan of Digestive Center for Women

Robynne Chutkan, MD, is the founder of the Digestive Center for Women in Chevy Chase, Md. She is a past governing board member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and former chair of the AGSE Training Committee and Public Relations Committee. She serves as a faculty member of Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Chutkan has a professional interest in inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, video capsule endoscopy, nutrition and weight loss. She has authored dozens of journal articles and book chapters and has been a featured lecturer.

Dr. Chutkan is the author of "Gutbliss," a book that provides women with information to avoid digestive problems. She was also the host of the NIH-sponsored series "Clinical Roundtable," a continuing medical education series that was broadcast to academic medical centers throughout the country.

Dr. Chutkan earned her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, where she also completed her residency. She has completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
