Dr. Bekal’s clinical interests include endoscopic modalities of treatment in complex pancreatobiliary disorders. He has expertise in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound, and he was one of the first physicians in the Tristate area to do these procedures. He is also a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials looking into the efficacy and safety of new drugs to treat IBD, IBS and esophagitis.
Dr. Bekal earned his Madras Medical School in India, and completed his residency in internal medicine at New York Methodist Hospital. He completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center in New York and an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
