GI physician leader to know: Dr. Paulo Pacheco of Manhattan Endoscopy

Paulo Pacheco, MD, provides care at Manhattan Endoscopy in New York. He also serves as an assistant attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and a clinical assistant professor of medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, Crohns and Colitis Foundation and New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Pacheco focuses on inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhea, liver diseases, gastroesophageal reflux disease and colonoscopy. He has published a book called "Living with Chronic Heartburn: The Complete Guide to Acid Reflux and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease." He is also currently on the health, nutrition and fitness advisory board of Woman's Day. He previously served as director of the gastroenterology fellowship training program at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he won the Program Director's Award for Excellence.

Dr. Pacheco earned his medical degree at Brown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. He also completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
