GI physician leader to know: Dr. Lukejohn Day of University of California San Francisco

Lukejohn Day, MD, an assistant professor of medicine at University of California San Francisco as well as director of clinical gastroenterology at SFGH and the associate chief medical officer for specialty care and diagnostics at San Francisco General Hospital.

Dr. Day has a professional interest in gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, hepatitis C and irritable bowel syndrome. His research interests center on organizational design and development of efficiency models for health care system delivery to vulnerable patient populations. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, such as BMC Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Endoscopy.

Dr. Day earned his medical degree at Stanford (Calif.) University and completed his residency and fellowship at University of California, San Francisco.
