GI physician leader to know: Dr. Leonard Weinstock of Specialists in Gastroenterology

Leonard Weinstock, MD, is a managing partner with Specialists in Gastroenterology in St. Louis. He is also an associate professor of clinical medicine and surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

Dr. Weinstock’s clinical interests include colon cancer screening, therapeutic videoendoscopy as well as management of motility disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. He also has expertise in the use of low dose naltrexone. He is researching the connection between the gut and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth with several medical problems, including restless legs syndrome and chronic pelvic pain syndromes. His work has been published in journals such as Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Weinstock completed his medical degree at University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and his residency at Rochester General Hospital/University of Rochester. He completed his GI fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
