GI physician leader to know: Dr. Lawrence Kim of South Denver Gastroenterology

Lawrence Kim, MD, is a practicing gastroenterologist with South Denver Gastroenterology in Parker, Colo. He serves on the governing board of the American Gastroenterologist Association and in 2011, was Clinical Practice Councilor for the AGA. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

Dr. Kim was the first gastroenterologist to join the board of directors of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, an organization that accredits ambulatory surgery centers. He is also an AAAHC surveyor. He plays an active role in providing charity care and has led or served on multiple medical missions to Vietnam and Cambodia.  

Dr. Kim also provides care at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colo., and Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo. He focuses on GERD, digestive disorders and endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr. Kim earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
