GI physician leader to know: Dr. Jack Groover of Borland-Groover Clinic

Jack R. Groover, MD, is president and CEO of the Borland-Groover Clinic, Jacksonville Center for Endoscopy and Jax Anesthesia Providers in Jacksonville, Fla. He has previously held the position of chief of gastroenterology for the Jacksonville Hospitals Education Program and for University Hospital in Jacksonville, where he founded the first GI fellowship program. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Laser Surgery.

Dr. Groover serves on a number of boards of directors including Jacksonville-based Baptist Health System. He also serves as chairman on the Clinical Quality and Technology Committee of Baptist Health Systems, and he serves on the United Healthcare Physicians Advisory Board and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Physician Advisory Board.

Dr. Groover is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is widely published in a number of professional journals, including Southern Medical Journal and The American Journal of Digestive Disease.

Dr. Groover earned his medical degree at University of Maryland in College Park. He completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami School of Medicine. He has completed two fellowships — one in gastroenterology and another in hepatology at University of Miami School of Medicine.
