Chicago-based GI Partners of Illinois, an independent GI group, and New York City-based Century Health, an AI data company, have entered a strategic partnership to build a real-world data ecosystem and advance GI research.
With data including physician notes, pathology reports, laboratory data, imaging and endoscopy reports, the two organizations will create one of the most comprehensive independent gastroenterology real-world data ecosystems in the U.S., according to an Aug. 18 news release from Century Health.
“As healthcare continues its transformation through artificial intelligence, data has become one of the most valuable assets in advancing patient care,” Geogy Vennikandam, MD, CEO of GI Partners of Illinois, said. “Our partnership with Century Health represents another bold step toward our vision of making GI Partners of Illinois one of the most technologically advanced independent physician organizations in the country. Together, we have the opportunity to accelerate discoveries, support pharmaceutical innovation, and ultimately improve the lives of the patients we are privileged to serve.”
The data sets will provide life sciences organizations, academic researchers and pharmaceutical companies with longitudinal data to increase understanding of disease progression, treatment effectiveness and patient outcomes. Inflammatory bowel disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis are among the conditions the research will target.

The collaboration will use Century Health’s AI abstraction model to pull data that has historically required manual abstraction, the release said.
