GI leader to know: Dr. Michael Chiorean of Virginia Mason Medical Center

Michael Chiorean, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center.

Dr. Chiorean earned his medical degree at University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He completed his internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship at the Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Chiorean is the director of Virginia Mason’s IBD Center of Excellence and the director of Digestive Disease Institute Research.

He is a board member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, serving on the Patient Education Committee. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
