He earned his medical degree from Memphis-based University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Birmingham-based University of Alabama Hospitals and a fellowship at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Cochran cofounded and served as the medical advisor of the American Liver Foundation’s Alabama chapter.
He has been highly active in hepatitis C research, serving as principal investigator for several clinical trials.
Dr. Cochran is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
