GI leader to know: Dr. Harvey Lefton of the Jefferson Health Torresdale Hospital

Harvey B. Lefton, MD, is the chief of gastroenterology at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health Torresdale Hospital.

Dr. Lefton is also president of the Philadelphia County Medical Society and a past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology.

He served as president of the medical staff at Aria Health. In 1976, he helped launch GI Specialists, an independent practice serves where he serves as president, supervising the practice.

Dr. Lefton is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Foundation, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Philadelphia College of Physicians.

He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia-based Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
