GI leader to know: Dr. Gail Hecht of Loyola University Medical Center

Gail Hecht, MD, is the gastroenterology and nutrition chief at Loyola University Chicago.

Dr. Hecht is a professor of medicine and microbiology/immunology at Loyola and is the editor-in-chief of Gut Microbes.

She is a past president of the American Gastroenterological Association — the second woman to serve in that position.

Dr. Hecht is the director of the gastroenterology residency program at Loyola. Her research interests include the gut microbiome and its impact on intestinal health.
