GI leader to know: Dr. Farzana Rashid Hossain of Penn Medicine

Farzana Rashid Hossain, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine.

Dr. Rashid is an assistant professor of medicine at the Philadelphia-based Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and serves as a faculty member for the urogynecology fellowship of the urogynecology division at the Philadelphia-based Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds positions as the director of quality improvement for Penn Medicine at Radnor, and serves as an EPIC Governance Committee member representing Penn Medicine at Radnor.

She was appointed to the First Philadelphia Commission for Women to provide insight on issues affecting women and girls in Philadelphia, and serves on the board of the Self-Freedom Foundation, a non-profit that funds education and healthcare for women and children in developing countries.

Dr. Rashid was awarded the Health Care Heroes Award from Penn Medicine, as well as the Radhika Srinivasan Award for Humanism and Professionalism from the Division of Gastroenterology at Penn Medicine.

Her core clinical expertise includes women's digestive health, Crohn's Disease, inflammatory bowel disease and more.
