Dr. Sauer helped launch the university’s adult eosinophilic esophagitis clinic and participates in quality and efficiency research in endoscopy. This year, he led a medical mission to provide endoscopy care in Santiago, Guatemala.
He sits on the boards of El Salvador-based charity King’s Palace and Asha International, which supports a hospital in India.
Dr. Sauer joined the University of Virginia’s faculty after completing his internal medicine residency, gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy training at the health system. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
