Dr. Coates received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the De Moines (Iowa) University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He completed his internal medicine residency at Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Metropolitan Hospital.
Dr. Coates completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan.
His clinical interests include esophageal motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and chronic liver disease.
