Geisinger, St. Luke’s open $72M hospital with GI — 4 insights

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network opened a $72 million hospital in Orwigsburg, Pa., the Pennsylvania Business Report reports.

What you should know:

1. The two organizations opened Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital Nov. 27.

2. The hospital is a joint venture.

3. The hospital could eventually have 80 beds. It currently has 30, including 15 beds in the emergency department and six in the intensive care unit. The hospital has two surgical bays, with space to accommodate two more.

4. Physicians will offer gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopedic, cardiology, urology and radiology services in the hospital.
