Gastroenterologist compensation fell by 3% in 2024, according to Medscape’s 2025 Physician Compensation Report released April 11.
Medscape surveyed 7,322 physicians across 29 specialties from Oct. 2, 2024 to Jan. 14, 2025.
Here are three more things to know:
1. Gastroenterologists earned an average of $495,000 in 2024, down from $512,000 in 2023.
2. Despite the dip, gastroenterologists ranked as the fifth highest-paid specialty last year.
3. Across the board, physician compensation increased by 3.6%, rising from $363,000 to $376,000. Specialist pay edged up from $394,000 to $398,000.
