Gastroenterologist on the Move: Dr. William Sandborn Named Division Chief for Gastroenterology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine

Gastroenterologist William Sandborn, MD, has been named the Division Chief for Gastroenterology in the University of California, San Diego Department of Medicine, according to a news release from UCSD.

His appointment still requires the pending UCSD campus approval.

 

Dr. Sandborn currently serves as vice chair of the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

 

He attended medical school and completed an internal medicine residency at Loma Linda (Calif.) University, then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.

 

Dr. Sandborn is expected to begin at UC San Diego School of Medicine at the end of the year.
