Gastroenterologist Dr. John Carethers Elected to Institute of Medicine

Gastroenterologist John Carethers, MD, has been elected to the Institute of Medicine, according to a news release.

Dr. Carethers is the John G. Searle Professor of Gastroenterology and chair of the department of internal medicine at University of Michigan Medical School.

 

While serving on the IOM board, Dr. Carethers expects to participate in areas of internal medicine, including serving on boards, participating in studies and serving as a report reviewer, according to the release.

 

Dr. Carethers received his MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in internal medicine gastroenterology at University of Michigan Health System.
