Galmed Pharmaceuticals names Dr. Liat Hayardeny chief scientific officer: 3 notes

Liat Hayardeny, PhD, MBA, has been named chief scientific officer of the Tel Aviv, Israel-based biopharmaceutical company Galmed Pharmaceuticals.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Galmed Pharmaceuticals develops treatments for liver diseases. Its current product candidate is an oral drug called Aramchol.

2. Prior to joining Galmed Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Hayardeny worked in the global research and development division of Teva Pharmaceuticals, another Israeli pharmaceutical company. She served as the head of research scientific affairs.

3. Dr. Hayardeny earned her doctorate degree from Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine and her MBA from Tel Aviv University’s Recanati Business School.
