Gastroenterologists will offer the screenings to people who are over 50 and who have lost their jobs, are uninsured and have never had a colonoscopy, according to the report. Patients who are interested are advised to call the practice.
Physicians say providing the screenings will send a message to many in the community that getting screened is important in the prevention of colon cancer.
