Fight Colorectal Cancer to Promote Awareness on Capitol Hill

Fight Colorectal Cancer, a national nonprofit organization, will host its eighth annual advocacy day in Washington, D.C.

The three-day event will include Call-on Congress. Advocates will receive lobbying training and visit with policymakers on Capitol Hill March 18. This year, advocates will lobby for:

•    HR 1070: Removing Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening Act
•    Funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Colorectal Cancer Control Program
•    Funding for colorectal cancer research at the National Cancer Institute and Department of Defense

Today, a national press conference will launch the “80 by 2018” national colorectal cancer screening goal, which aims to boost the rate of screening to 80 percent by 2018.
