Drs. Andres Gelrud, William Stevens and more: 29 GI physicians making headlines

Here are 29 gastroenterologists making news this past week.

Portsmouth, N.H.-based Atlantic Digestive Specialists added Jennifer Lewis, MD, to its staff.

New York City-based NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn added Adam Goodman, MD, to its staff, appointing him director of endoscopy and quality.

The American College of Gastroenterology recognized several gastroenterologists during its third annual SCOPY awards Oct. 15 at the World Congress of Gastroenterology at ACG2017, in Orlando, Fla. They are:

  • Whitfield L. Knapple, MD, chair, ACG National Affairs Committee
  • Jinendra Satiya, MD, and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
  • Pooja Singhal, MD, and Saint Anthony's Gastroenterology Department in Oklahoma City
  • Darrell M. Gray, II, MD, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus
  • Stephen T. Amann, MD, ACG Board of Governors, Digestive Health Specialists, PA, in Tupelo, Miss.
  • James C. Hobley, MD, ACG Board of Governors, GastroIntestinal Specialists, AMC in Shreveport, La.
  • Andres Gelrud, MD, of Gastro Health's Miami Cancer Institute
  • Juan F. Echavarria, MD, of University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
  • Neil Sengupta, MD, of University of Chicago Medical Center
