Dr. Montes completed her medical degree and her residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She then became senior surgical resident at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Montes completed a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and a laparoscopic bariatric surgery fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
