Dr. John Allen travels to Capitol Hill to advocate for GI issues

John I. Allen, MD, MBA, AGAF, president of the American Gastroenterological Association Institute, recently travelled to Capitol Hill to discuss some of the most pressing issues in gastroenterology, according to an AGA Washington Insider report.

The key issues Dr. Allen discussed include:

•    Physician payment reform
•    NIH research funding
•    Patient access to care
•    Colonoscopy Medicare co-insurance

Dr. Allen also stressed the AGA’s support for the 21st Century Cures initiative.

Additionally, he discussed plans to bring the FDA, CDC and scope manufacturers together to address the issue of infection risk and duodenoscopes.
