Dr. Glenn, an associate professor of gastroenterology, hepatology, microbiology and immunology, established the center through a $28 million, five-year grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a part of the National Institutes of Health.
The center will focus on developing drug therapies that block resources in host cells that viruses require for replication, rather than directly targeting viruses. “The idea of the center is to change that paradigm for antiviral therapy,” said Dr. Glenn in the Stanford report.
Dr. Glenn and 11 other Stanford faculty members are working at the center.
