Here’s what you need to know.
1. Dr. Lacey and the hospital received the 2016 Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Award.
2. Dr. Lacey created the screening program and runs it with two Navy corpsman.
3. The program was selected from a field of 70 projects to win the recognition.
4. Since its inception in November 2015, the hospital has screened more than 3,400 patients through the program, with 39 people testing positive and seeking out treatment.
5. Pensacola Naval Hospital rolled out the program to its 10 branch clinics, and other Naval hospitals are beginning screening programs after its success.
