Colon Cancer Coalition's inflatable colon recovered after $11K raised for replacement

The Colon Cancer Coalition's stolen inflatable colon was found Monday outside a vacant house, the Star Tribune reported.

Here are the key details to know:

1. The colon was stolen from a parked truck at the Kansas City-based University of Kansas Cancer Center with the colon in its bed. The 10-by-12-foot inflatable colon was scheduled to go to the Sisters Living Beyond Breast Cancer 5K Relay Walk which took place Oct. 20.

2. The Cancer Coalition said the inflatable colon was worth $4,000, and raised about $11,000 to replace it.

3. Erin Peterson, spokeswoman for the Colon Cancer Coalition, told the Star Tribune that the "silver lining" of the theft is that more people are talking about colon cancer. "The stolen colon keeps on giving," she said in the report.
