According to a Health Data Management news report, Congress members frowned upon the physicians’ signature requirement, which is required under the 2011 Medicare physician fee schedule, saying that the requirement could potentially result in delayed services and harm to patients.

According to the AAB news release, CMS will announce the change to the physicians’ signature requirement in advance of April 1 when it is due to go into effect.
